Spider-Man Brand New Day box office hits record $875M opening

Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man adventure exceeds expectations, delivering one of the biggest global and domestic debuts in cinema history.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed industry expectations with a record-breaking box office debut, delivering one of the biggest openings in movie history and reaffirming the enduring popularity of Marvel’s flagship superhero.

Initially, industry analysts projected the latest Spider-Man film to earn around $250 million during its domestic opening weekend. Sony Pictures had adopted a more conservative forecast, estimating an opening closer to $195 million.

However, the film significantly outperformed both projections.

Spider-Man posts historic domestic debut

Starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Spider-Man: Brand New Day generated an impressive $355 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend.

The remarkable performance makes the film the second-largest domestic opening in U.S. box office history, highlighting the continued drawing power of the Spider-Man franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The latest installment has attracted massive audiences, with strong turnout across premium formats and repeat viewings contributing to its blockbuster debut.

Global opening approaches $900 million

Internationally, the film is expected to collect approximately $550 million, taking its projected worldwide opening to an extraordinary $875 million.

That total places Spider-Man: Brand New Day behind only Avengers: Endgame, which remains the biggest global opening of all time with approximately $1.2 billion during its debut.

The strong overseas performance demonstrates Spider-Man’s global appeal, with audiences worldwide embracing Tom Holland’s return as the iconic web-slinger.

Marvel continues box office dominance

The latest success further cements Marvel Studios’ dominance at the global box office.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s record-breaking debut, Marvel now occupies all four of the biggest domestic opening weekends in U.S. box office history, underscoring the franchise’s unmatched commercial strength.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige thanked moviegoers for supporting the latest Spider-Man adventure.

“This is a truly phenomenal opening, and we are grateful to audiences everywhere for coming out and experiencing our film the way it was meant to be seen.”

Feige added that the film’s performance reflects the lasting popularity of Marvel’s characters.

“This debut reflects the enduring power of Marvel’s characters and the connection they continue to have with fans around the world — and, as audiences saw, it sets up exciting things to come.”

Following its record-breaking launch, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its theatrical run as one of the year’s biggest cinematic successes.
