Spotify has officially announced a new wave of Premium subscription price increases impacting users across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
The music streaming giant confirmed that subscribers in the affected countries will soon receive email notifications detailing the updated rates. However, Spotify did not provide a complete list of the countries where the changes will apply.
In Europe, some markets have already seen the impact. Premium plans in Spain, Italy, and Portugal have increased by €1, with the standard individual plan now starting at €11.99 per month. For existing subscribers, the new pricing will be reflected in their next billing cycle.
This price hike comes shortly after Spotify released its Q2 2025 financial report, which revealed a notable rise in Premium subscribers. The platform now boasts 276 million paying users worldwide, reflecting steady demand for its service despite growing competition in the streaming industry. However, the company also reported a shortfall in revenue, missing its earnings guidance by $100 million.
Spotify has implemented similar price increases in recent years, often citing the need to invest in content, technology, and artist compensation. The company continues to expand its library of music, podcasts, and audiobooks, as well as explore new features aimed at enhancing the overall listening experience.
While some users may view the higher prices as a drawback, Spotify appears confident that its large and loyal customer base will remain committed. Industry analysts suggest that rising operational costs, licensing fees, and ongoing investments in exclusive content are driving the decision.
With the latest global Premium price hike, Spotify joins other major streaming platforms that have raised subscription rates in 2025, signaling a broader industry trend toward higher pricing.
Subscribers are advised to check their email notifications and account settings for updated pricing details in their specific region.
