Spotify has launched beta testing for a new AI-powered feature on iOS that delivers quick audiobook recaps, helping listeners instantly recall key moments without replaying previous sections. The feature expands Spotify’s ongoing effort to strengthen its audiobook ecosystem with smarter, more intuitive tools.
The AI Audiobook Recap generates short summaries based on the portion a user has already listened to. To ensure accuracy, the tool activates only after at least 15 minutes of listening time. Users will find a new “Recap” button above the chapters list. For now, the feature is available only for select English-language audiobooks, though Spotify confirmed that more supported titles are coming soon.
Inspired by TV-style “previously on” segments, the AI Recap helps listeners return to the storyline after breaks, making long-form content easier to follow. Spotify aims to reduce friction for audiobook fans and provide a more seamless, engaging experience.
Spotify has also introduced an upgrade to shuffle controls for Premium users. The new “Fewer Repeats” option minimizes the chances of hearing the same tracks again, offering a more varied and enjoyable playlist flow. Users can toggle the feature through Playback settings inside the app.
These updates underscore Spotify’s commitment to AI-driven personalization and enhanced usability. As audiobooks continue to grow on the platform, tools like smart recaps and improved shuffle features demonstrate Spotify’s push to refine the listening experience across all formats.
