KARACHI: Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has suspended sales tax registration of M/s. Hellenic Shipping Agencies (Pvt) Limited for non-payment and non-compliance of return filing for the last eight years.
In a notices dated May 08, 2019, the SRB said that the shipping agent was registered with the SRB having SNTN No. S0710634-3 and failed to make payment of sales tax on services for the tax period from July 2011 to till date.
Similarly, the company also failed to mandatory electronic filing of sales tax return for the tax period from July 2011 till date.
The SRB in the notice intimated the company that its sales tax registration with the provincial revenue authority was suspended with immediate effect. The suspension of sales tax registration would be revoked if the company takes following remedial actions by May 23, 2019:
— To discharge all sales tax liability along with default surcharge under Section 44 of Sindh Sales Tax Act, 2011 for the mentioned period and deposit the same in the provincial government’s kitty.
— To e-file the true and correct monthly Sindh sales tax returns for the said tax period.
The SRB said that in case of non-satisfactory response or failure to take remedial measures on or before May 24, 2019 the case would be further proceeded for cancellation/de-registration with the SRB.
The SRB further said that the notice and suspension of registration is without prejudice to the penal action, prosecution action and recovery action as may be taken against M/s. Hellenic Shipping Agencies (Pvt) Limited in accordance with the provision of the Act or the Rules.
