Sri Lanka showcased their cricketing prowess by securing a convincing six-wicket victory over Pakistan Women in the second semifinal clash of the 19th Asian Games women’s cricket tournament.

This thrilling encounter unfolded at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China, on September 24.

Known for their cricketing excellence with gold medals in the 2010 and 2014 editions, Pakistan Women will now shift their focus to the bronze medal match against Bangladesh.

This pivotal match will be contested at the same venue on September 25, with kickoff at 0900 local time. Meanwhile, the stage is set for the highly anticipated gold medal showdown between Sri Lanka and India, scheduled for September 24 at 1400 local time.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan faced a formidable Sri Lankan bowling attack, struggling to accumulate 75 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Notable contributions came from Shawaal Zulfiqar (16), Muneeba Ali (13), and Omaima Sohail (10).

Udeshika Prabodhani was the standout performer with the ball for Sri Lanka, clinching three crucial wickets for a mere 21 runs, while Kavisha Dilhari provided valuable support with two wickets.

In response, Pakistan managed to contain the Sri Lankan batters and took four wickets during the chase. Nevertheless, Sri Lanka exhibited unwavering determination and successfully reached the target in the 17th over.

Harshitha Samarawickrama emerged as the highest scorer for the victorious Sri Lankan team with 23 runs. Diana Baig, Sadia Iqbal, and Umm-e-Hani each contributed with a wicket for Pakistan.
