Acclaimed actor and creator Stephen Graham has teased fans with an exciting update regarding a follow-up to his hit Netflix series Adolescence.
The This Is England star, who played father Eddie Miller in the original show, confirmed that discussions are underway to develop a new story while maintaining the unique concept that made the series stand out.
In an interview with Daily Mail, Graham revealed, “We are having talks and discussions about finding another story. I think we have to be tight-lipped at the moment. And we’re all talking at the moment.” He further explained that the new project would continue with the “same concept with the idea of doing something in one take,” which became a defining element of Adolescence.
The Liverpool-born actor also confirmed that he and his wife, actress Hannah Walters, will be producing the drama through their company, Matriarch Productions. However, fans hoping to see more of the Miller family may be disappointed, as Graham clarified that the upcoming series will not revisit those characters.
“This family is finished. But the format and how we make the programme will continue,” he said, making it clear that while the original storyline has concluded, the innovative style of storytelling will remain.
Graham did, however, confirm that actor Ashley Walters, who portrayed DI Luke in Adolescence, will return in the new project. Praising Walters, Graham shared, “Ashley is one of our finest actors, who has never had the opportunity to play a role other than the role he’s played. But that’s all it’s about, about creating opportunities.”
Reflecting on the Emmy success of Adolescence, Graham expressed how the recognition has inspired him to continue pushing boundaries in television. “It’s made me believe that with the right people around and the right people who believe in the vision that you have as a collective, anything is possible,” he explained.
With talks ongoing and creative ideas taking shape, fans of Adolescence can look forward to another powerful and innovative drama from Stephen Graham and his team.
