Islamabad, February 7, 2026: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over hilly areas, across Balochistan and upper parts of the country from the night of February 8 to February 10, 2026, as a westerly weather system is set to enter western regions and move northward.
According to the PMD, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms with snowfall over hills are expected in several districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chaghi, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Mastung, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Khuzdar, Kech, Gwadar, Panjgur and Awaran on February 8 and 9.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, similar weather conditions are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan on February 9 and 10, with the possibility of hailstorms at isolated locations.
The PMD further said that rain and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over hilly areas, may also occur at isolated places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat and several districts of Punjab from the evening of February 9 to February 10. Lahore is expected to remain partly cloudy, while gusty winds and possible windstorms may affect southern Punjab.
In Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, rain, thunderstorms and snowfall are forecast for February 9 and 10.
The PMD warned that snowfall could cause slippery roads, traffic disruptions, and possible landslides in vulnerable areas. Tourists and travelers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious, while authorities have been urged to stay alert and adopt preventive measures.
