Stranger Things S5 to Feature ‘Unbelievable Cold Open Ever’

Stranger Things co-creator Ross Duffer has sent fans into a frenzy after teasing a major surprise in the show’s fifth and final season — the “unbelievable cold open we’ve ever done.”

Taking to Instagram on August 4, Duffer revealed that the first two episodes of the upcoming season are officially “locked, mixed, scored, colored, DONE.” He also shared glimpses of the title cards and dropped subtle hints about what lies ahead.

The season premiere, titled “Chapter One: The Crawl,” is being described as the most eventful opening episode since Season 1, which originally introduced fan-favorite characters like Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, and Dustin back in 2016.

Duffer didn’t stop there — he also teased the second episode, mysteriously titled “The Vanishing of…” He avoided revealing the full name, covering it with a question mark to prevent spoilers. However, he hyped it up as featuring “by far the unbelievable cold open we’ve ever done,” calling it “one of the sequences we’re most proud of this season.”

The anticipation surrounding Stranger Things Season 5 continues to grow, especially as this marks the final chapter of Netflix’s hit sci-fi horror series. Fans can expect an explosive return with Volume 1 premiering on November 26, Volume 2 on December 25, and the highly awaited series finale arriving on December 31, 2025.
