Islamabad, July 20, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Saturday that strong monsoon currents are expected to bring more rains across various parts of the country, starting from July 22.
The PMD forecasts that these strong monsoon currents will penetrate from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal into the upper parts of Pakistan. The detailed regional forecast is as follows:
Kashmir: The PMD said from the evening of July 21 to July 27, areas including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, and Rawalakot will experience rain with occasional heavy falls.
Punjab and Islamabad: From July 22 to 25, regions such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Faisalabad will see rain with heavy showers in some areas. Bahawalpur, Multan, and surrounding areas will experience rain on July 23 and 24, according to the PMD.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa: The PMD said from the evening of July 22 to 24, rain and thunderstorms are expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, and other regions with occasional heavy falls.
Balochistan: Predominantly hot and humid weather is expected, but the north-eastern parts, including Khuzdar and Kalat, will see rain on July 23 and 24, according to the PMD.
Sindh: Hot and very humid weather will prevail, with rain expected in Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, and other districts on July 23 and 24.
Gilgit-Baltistan: Partly cloudy to cloudy weather with rain is expected from July 22 to 27 in Diamir, Astore, and Skardu.

• Flash Flooding: Heavy rains may cause flash floods in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on July 23 and 24.
• Urban Flooding: Low-lying areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa could experience urban flooding during this period.
• Landslides: Landslides may disrupt roads in hilly areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, and Kashmir.
