SUPARCO (Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission) is set to launch a new remote sensing satellite on July 31, 2025. The launch will take place at China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC). This marks another major step in Pakistan’s journey toward advancing space technology.

The upcoming satellite will help monitor the Earth and support many important national needs. These include smart farming, disaster response, environmental protection, and city planning. With its high-tech imaging tools, the satellite will track floods, earthquakes, landslides, glacier changes, and forest loss. It will also support major development projects like CPEC by helping in infrastructure planning and mapping.

This launch adds to SUPARCO’s growing fleet of space missions. The new satellite follows earlier missions such as PRSS-1 (2018) and EO-1 (January 2025). Together, these satellites are part of Pakistan’s long-term space goals under the National Space Policy and Vision 2047.

SUPARCO has steadily progressed in space efforts. In 2011, PakSat-1R restarted Pakistan’s space ambitions. In 2018, PRSS-1 and PakTES-1A further deepened space ties with China. More recently, the iCube Qamar satellite, built by students, captured photos of the Moon in 2024, while the launch of EO-1 in 2025 showcased local talent and engineering.

With this new remote sensing satellite, SUPARCO once again shows Pakistan’s commitment to using space for national growth, better planning, and global standing. It’s a proud moment that reflects the country’s rising role in space science and innovation.
