Warner Bros. Pictures has officially released a brand-new trailer and poster for Superman, the much-anticipated reboot of the iconic superhero franchise.
Written and directed by James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, the film is scheduled to soar into theaters on July 11, 2025, marking the first feature in Gunn’s new DC Universe and the first standalone Superman film in more than a decade.
Taking flight in the role of Clark Kent/Superman is actor David Corenswet, who brings a youthful yet grounded energy to the legendary Man of Steel. Starring alongside him is Emmy-winner Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, the fearless Daily Planet journalist known for her tenacity and wit. The main antagonist, Lex Luthor, is portrayed by Nicholas Hoult, described in this version as a “brilliant but unhinged megalomaniac” with dangerous ambitions.
Supporting the core trio is a rich ensemble cast, including Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner (Green Lantern), Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Additional appearances by Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell add depth to this expansive world.
The newly unveiled trailer offers an emotional and action-packed glimpse into Gunn’s vision for Superman. A key moment shows the hero intervening to stop a global conflict, only to surrender himself—underscoring the moral dilemmas faced by the last son of Krypton. Gunn’s trademark blend of emotional storytelling, humor, and blockbuster action is evident, setting this Superman apart while honoring the essence of the character.
At the 2024 SAG Awards, Brosnahan described Lois as “smart, ambitious, and incredibly funny,” noting that “she knows she’s the smartest person in the room most of the time.”
Produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran, Superman is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The production features top-tier talent behind the camera, including cinematographer Henry Braham, costume designer Judianna Makovsky, and composer John Murphy.
The trailer builds on the excitement of the teaser released in December 2023, which garnered over 250 million views—making it the most-watched Superman trailer in DC’s history.
