Supernet completes delivery of multi-million multiplexers in Pakistan

Supernet Limited, a leading telecommunications company, has announced the successful delivery of equipment and services for Phase 3 of a multi-million dollar long-term program aimed at supplying multiplexers and associated services in Pakistan.

While specific details regarding the project’s components have not been disclosed, this achievement is expected to bolster Supernet Limited’s reputation and open doors to potential future business opportunities.

A multiplexer, a key component in modern telecommunications, combines multiple data signals into a single channel for efficient transmission. This technology is crucial for optimizing bandwidth usage and reducing overall data transmission costs, making it a valuable asset in the telecommunications industry.

The successful completion of Phase 3 signifies that Supernet Limited has met the project requirements and exceeded customer expectations. The undisclosed project, valued at approximately Rs250 million, was awarded to Supernet in collaboration with their Australian technology partner, Avara Technologies Pty Ltd, in 2022.

The DynaFlex product family provided by Avara is a versatile and fully-featured access multiplexer equipped with robust cross-connect and protection capabilities. This platform accommodates a wide range of interfaces, including POTS, SCADA, Ethernet, Serial Data, and Tele-Protection. Its flexibility makes it an ideal choice for transporting mission-critical Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) services over various packet-based interfaces like PDH, SDH, Ethernet, or MPLS-TP.

PDH (Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy) and SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) are standards for transmitting digital signals over optical fibers or copper wires. Ethernet is a widely-used networking standard, while MPLS-TP (Multiprotocol Label Switching Transport Profile) is a protocol facilitating the transportation of different types of traffic over a packet-based network.

The DynaFlex platform’s ability to handle diverse interfaces and network protocols positions it as a versatile solution suitable for various applications. Its cross-connect and protection features enhance reliability, ensuring the seamless delivery of mission-critical services with minimal downtime.

Ali Akhtar, Supernet’s Head of BU-Telecom and Defence, expressed gratitude for the successful project completion, stating, “During these unprecedented and trying economic times, the successful completion of this project is a testament to Supernet’s resilience and epitomizes our commitment to our customers. We are forever grateful to our technology partner, who continues to demonstrate extraordinary patience during the ongoing hardships in Pakistan.”

This achievement underscores Supernet Limited’s commitment to technological innovation, resilience, and dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the telecommunications sector in Pakistan. As the company continues to forge partnerships and deliver cutting-edge solutions, it is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the telecommunications landscape in the region.
