Suzuki Motor Corporation (Suzuki) and SkyDrive Inc. (based in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture; led by CEO and Representative Director, Tomohiro Fukuzawa) have initiated the manufacturing of cutting-edge flying cars in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

The collaboration signifies a significant step forward in the realm of futuristic transportation, poised to redefine urban mobility.

The genesis of this partnership traces back to October 2023 when Suzuki and SkyDrive inked a Manufacturing Cooperation Contract. This agreement paved the way for the production of the innovative “SKYDRIVE (SD-05 type)” at a Suzuki Group facility in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The operation is facilitated through SkyDrive’s subsidiary, Sky Works Inc., under the stewardship of President Nobuo Kishi.

Efforts have been diligently underway since the agreement’s inception, with both Suzuki and SkyDrive working in tandem to commence manufacturing operations. The culmination of this collaborative effort was marked by a riveting ceremony held on March 6.

Attended by the entire workforce of Sky Works, as well as top executives including SkyDrive’s CEO Tomohiro Fukuzawa and Suzuki’s President Toshihiro Suzuki, the event symbolized the beginning of a transformative journey in transportation technology.

This manufacturing facility will not only cater to the production of aircraft slated for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan but also heralds the production of flying cars for commercial sale.

The advent of flying cars holds immense promise in alleviating traffic congestion, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing overall mobility. By leveraging advanced technology and engineering prowess, Suzuki and SkyDrive seek to realize the vision of a future where flying cars seamlessly integrate into everyday life.

The collaboration between Suzuki and SkyDrive underscores the spirit of innovation and partnership driving the evolution of transportation. It represents a paradigm shift in urban mobility, offering a glimpse into a future where the skies are no longer confined to conventional aircraft but serve as highways for next-generation flying cars.
