Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are set to star in the upcoming psychological thriller The Housemaid, an adaptation of Freida McFadden’s best-selling novel. The film, directed by Paul Feig—known for his work on Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor—will be produced under Lionsgate’s banner.

In this chilling thriller, Sweeney will portray Millie, a young woman seeking a fresh start after securing a job as a housemaid for a wealthy couple, Nina (played by Seyfried) and Andrew. As the official synopsis reveals, Millie quickly finds that the family’s secrets are far more sinister than she ever anticipated.

Adam Fogelson, chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, expressed excitement about the project in a statement. “I’m thrilled to have The Housemaid join our upcoming slate. A great filmmaker, a stellar cast, and a fantastic script from a remarkable book provide a strong foundation. My prior experiences with Paul and Amanda have been phenomenal, and Sydney is an incredible talent who brings depth to every role she takes on,” he said.

Erin Westerman, co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, added his enthusiasm for the casting, remarking on how perfectly Sweeney and Seyfried embody the complex characters from McFadden’s novel. “Part of the excitement while reading the book was imagining the cast, and both Sydney and Amanda are perfect for Millie and Nina. Their ability to portray characters who reveal layers gradually is impressive, making them ideal for these roles,” he commented.

The film marks another major step for Sweeney, whose recent performances have earned her widespread acclaim, and for Seyfried, who continues to showcase her versatility across genres. With Paul Feig directing and a gripping source material to draw from, The Housemaid is expected to deliver suspense, psychological depth, and unexpected twists.

As The Housemaid moves into production, anticipation builds for a thriller that promises to delve into hidden secrets and dangerous revelations, brought to life by two of Hollywood’s most compelling actresses.
