Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney is gearing up to take on one of the most iconic roles of her career as she prepares to portray legendary actress Kim Novak in the upcoming biopic Scandalous.
Known for her breakout performances in Euphoria and Anyone But You, the 27-year-old actress is thrilled to dive into the complex life of Novak, who rose to fame in classic films like Vertigo.
In a recent interview with Bustle, Sweeney opened up about her excitement and nerves regarding the role. “I’m such a sucker for homework,” she admitted. “There’s so much research you get to do, and I love every part of that process. At the top of next year, I get to play Kim Novak, so I’m really excited to start studying her and learning everything I possibly can.”
The film Scandalous will center on the controversial romance between Novak and legendary Rat Pack singer Sammy Davis Jr., who will be portrayed by Industry star David Jonsson. Their relationship, which stirred public and industry backlash in the 1950s, is expected to be explored in depth, shedding light on the racial and cultural tensions of the era.
Sweeney acknowledged that taking on the role of Novak, now 92, is both an honor and a challenge. The actress hopes to do justice to the Hollywood icon’s legacy while bringing her own depth and perspective to the character.
Production for Scandalous is set to begin early next year.
