    Headline inflation grows by 9.3pc in July

    ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) has increased by 9.3 percent on Year-on-Year (YoY) basis in July 2020, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Monday.

    The latest increase was compared to an increase of 8.6 percent in the previous month and 8.4 percent in July 2019.

    On month-on-month (MoM) basis, it increased by 2.5 percent in July 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.8 percent in the previous month and an increase of 1.8 percent in July 2019.

    CPI inflation Urban, increased by 7.8 percent on year-on-year basis in July 2020 as compared to an increase of 7.6 percent in the previous month and 8.7 percent in July 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 2.2 percent in July 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.7 percent in the previous month and an increase of 2.0 percent in July 2019.

    CPI inflation Rural, increased by 11.5 percent on year-on-year basis in July 2020 as compared to an increase of 10.0 percent in the previous month and 7.9 percent in July 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 2.9 percent in July 2020 as compared to an increase of 1.0 percent in the previous month and an increase of 1.6 percent in July 2019.

    Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) inflation on YoY increased by 13.5 percent in July 2020 as compared to an increase of 11.5 percent a month earlier and an increase of 8.9 percent in July 2019.

    On MoM basis, it increased by 2.8 percent in July 2020 as compared to an increase of 1.4 percent a month earlier and an increase of 1.0 percent in July 2019.

    Wholesale Price Indicator (WPI) inflation on YoY basis increased by 3.2 percent in July 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.9 percent a month earlier and an increase of 13.3 percent in July 2019.

    WPI inflation on MoM basis increased by 5.4 percent in July 2020 as compared to a decrease of 0.3 percent a month earlier and an increase of 3.1 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. July 2019.

    ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 8.6 percent on Year on Year (YoY) basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 8.2 percent in the previous month and 8.0 percent in June 2019.

    Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday said that on month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.8 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.3 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.5 percent in June 2019.

    CPI inflation Urban, increased by 7.6 percent on year-on-year basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 7.3 percent in the previous month and 8.1 percent in June 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.7 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.3 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.3 percent in June 2019.

    CPI inflation Rural, increased by 10.0 percent on year-on-year basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 9.7 percent in the previous month and 7.9 percent in June 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 1.0 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.3 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.7 percent in June 2019.

    SPI inflation on YoY increased by 11.5 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 11.0 percent a month earlier and an increase of 9.3 percent in June 2019.

    On MoM basis, it increased by 1.4 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 2.2 percent a month earlier and an increase of 0.9 percent in June 2019.

    WPI inflation on YoY basis increased by 0.9 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 1.5 percent a month earlier and an increase of 14.0 percent in June 2019.

    WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 0.3 percent in June 2020 as compared to a decrease of 2.1 percent a month earlier and an increase of 0.2 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. June 2019.

    Core inflation (NFNE)

    Measured by non-food non-energy Urban CPI increased by 6.5 percent on (YoY) basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 6.3 percent in the previous month and 7.3 percent in June 2019. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.4 percent in June 2020 as compared to increase of 0.4 percent in previous month, and an increase of 0.2 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. June 2019.

    Measured by non-food non-energy Rural CPI increased by 8.8 percent on (YoY) basis in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 8.4 percent in the previous month and 6.7 percent in June 2019. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.7 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.4 percent in previous month, and an increase of 0.3 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. June 2019.

    Core inflation (Trimmed)

    Measured by 20 percent weighted trimmed mean Urban CPI increased by 7.4 percent on (YoY) basis in June 2020 as compared to 6.7 percent in the previous month and by 7.3 percent in June 2019. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.4 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.4 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.4 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. June 2019.

    Measured by 20 percent weighted trimmed mean Rural CPI increased by 9.9 percent on (YoY) basis in June 2020 as compared to 8.9 percent in the previous month and by 7.2 percent in June 2019.

    On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.9 percent in June 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.5 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.7 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. June 2019.

    ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 8.2 percent on year-on-year basis in May 2020 as compared to an increase of 8.5 percent in the previous month and 8.4 percent in May 2019, said Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Monday.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.3 percent in May 2020 as compared to a decrease of 0.8 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.6 percent in May 2019.

    CPI inflation Urban, increased by 7.3 percent on year-on-year basis in May 2020 as compared to an increase of 7.7 percent in the previous month and 8.5 percent in May 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.3 percent in May 2020 as compared to a decrease of 0.7 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.7 percent in May 2019.

    CPI inflation Rural, increased by 9.7 percent on year-on-year basis in May 2020 as compared to an increase of 9.8 percent in the previous month and 8.3 percent in May 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.3 percent in May 2020 as compared to a decrease of 1.1 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.5 percent in May 2019.

    Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) inflation on YoY increased by 11.0 percent in May 2020 as compared to an increase of 9.3 percent a month earlier and an increase of 9.9 percent in May 2019.

    On MoM basis, it increased by 2.2 percent in May 2020 as compared to a decrease of 1.8 percent a month earlier and an increase of 0.6 percent in May 2019.

    Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation on YoY basis increased by 1.5 percent in May 2020 as compared to an increase of 4.9 percent a month earlier and an increase of 16.5 percent in May 2019.

    WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 2.1 percent in May 2020 as compared to a decrease of 2.0 percent a month earlier and an increase of 1.2 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. May 2019.

    Headline inflation contracts to 8.5 percent in April

    ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) contracted to single digit i.e. 8.5 percent in April 2020 as compared with an increase of 10.2 percent in the previous month, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Friday.

    The PBS said that CPI inflation general increased by 8.5 percent on year-on-year basis in April 2020 as compared to an increase of 10.2 percent in the previous month and 8.3 percent in April 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.8 percent in April 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.04 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.7 percent in April 2019.

    CPI inflation Urban increased by 7.7 percent on year-on-year basis in April 2020 as compared to an increase of 9.3 percent in the previous month and 8.4 percent in April 2019. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.7 percent in April 2020 as compared to an increase of 0.1 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.8 percent in April 2019.

    CPI inflation Rural, increased by 9.8 percent on year-on-year basis in April 2020 as compared to an increase of 11.7 percent in the previous month and 8.1 percent in April 2019. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 1.1 percent in April 2020 as compared to a decrease of 0.1 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.6 percent in April 2019.

    Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) inflation on YoY increased by 9.0 percent in April 2020 as compared to an increase of 11.8 percent a month earlier and an increase of 10.0 percent in April 2019.

    On MoM basis, it decreased by 2.0 percent in April 2020 as compared to a decrease of 0.3 percent a month earlier and an increase of 0.5 percent in April 2019.

    Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation on YoY basis increased by 5.1 percent in April 2020 as compared to an increase of 9.2 percent a month earlier and an increase of 17.1 percent in April 2019.

    WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 2.1 percent in April 2020 as compared to a decrease of 0.9 percent a month earlier and an increase of 1.8 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. April 2019.

    ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation has contracted to 10.2 percent in March 2020 as compared with inflation in the previous month.

    Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday said that Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation increased by 10.2 percent on year-on-year basis in March 2020 as compared to an increase of 12.4 percent in the previous month and 8.6 percent in March 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.04 percent in March 2020 as compared to a decrease of 1.0 percent in the previous month and an increase of 2.0 percent in March 2019.

    The CPI inflation in urban areas increased by 9.3 percent on year-on-year basis in March 2020 as compared to an increase of 11.2 percent in the previous month and 8.9 percent in March 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.1 percent in March 2020 as compared to a decrease of 1.1 percent in the previous month and an increase of 1.9 percent in March 2019.

    CPI inflation in rural areas increased by 11.7 percent on year-on-year basis in March 2020 as compared to an increase of 14.2 percent in the previous month and 8.2 percent in March 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.1 percent in March 2020 as compared to a decrease of 1.0 percent in the previous month and an increase of 2.2 percent in March 2019.

    Sensitive Price Index (SPI) based inflation on YoY increased by 11.8 percent in March 2020 as compared to an increase of 14.5 percent a month earlier and an increase of 10.5 percent in March 2019. On MoM basis, it decreased by 0.3 percent in March 2020 as compared to a decrease of 0.8 percent a month earlier and an increase of 2.1 percent in March 2019.

    Wholesale Price Indicator (WPI) inflation on YoY basis increased by 9.2 percent in March 2020 as compared to an increase of 12.6 percent a month earlier and an increase of 16.6 percent in March 2019.

    WPI inflation on MoM basis it decreased by 0.9 percent in March 2020 as compared to a decrease of 0.8 percent a month earlier and an increase of 2.2 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. March 2019.

    ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) has contracted at 12.4 percent in February 2020 as compared with 14.6 percent in January 2020.

    According Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the headline inflation base-year 2015-16 increased by 12.4 percent on year-on-year basis in February2020 as compared to an increase of14.6 percent in the previous month and 6.8 percent in February2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 1.0 percent in February 2020 as compared to an increase of 2.0 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.9 percent in February2019.2.

    The CPI inflation Urban increased by 11.2 percent on year-on-year basis in February2020 as compared to an increase of 13.4 percent in the previous month and 7.2 percent in February 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 1.1 percent in February 2020 as compared to an increase of 1.7 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.9 percent in February2019.

    CPI inflation Rural increased by 14.2 percent on year-on-year basis in February 2020 as compared to an increase of 16.3 percent in the previous month and 6.0 percent in February 2019.

    On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 1.0 percent in February 2020 as compared to an increase of 2.4 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.9 percent in February2019.

    SPI inflation on YoY increased by14.5 percent in February2020 as compared to an increase of 18.3 percent a month earlier and an increase of 7.2 percent in February2019.

    On MoM basis, it decreased by 0.8 percent in February2020 as compared to an increase of 0.5 percent a month earlier and an increase of 2.4 percent in February2019.

    WPI inflation on YoY basis increased by 12.6 percent in February2020as compared to an increase of 15.4 percent a month earlier and an increase of 13.9 percent in February2019.

    WPI inflation on MoM basis it decreased by 0.8 percent in February 2020 as compared to an increase of 1.8 percent a month earlier and an increase of 1.6 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. February 2019.

    Headline inflation increases by 11 percent in October

    ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) has increased by 11 percent in October 2019 while calculating on the base year 2015-2016.

    According to inflation data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday, the inflation general increased by 11.0 percent on year-on-year basis in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 11.4 percent in the previous month and 6.5 percent in October 2018.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 1.8 percent in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.8 percent in the previous month and 2.1 percent in October 2018, the PBS said.

    CPI inflation Urban, increased by 10.9 percent on year-on-year basis in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 11.6 percent in the previous month and 7.0 percent in October 2018.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 1.6 percent in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.7 percent in the previous month and an increase of 2.2 percent in October 2018.

    CPI inflation Rural, increased by 11.3 percent on year-on-year basis in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 11.1 percent in the previous month and 5.7 percent in October 2018.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 2.2 percent in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.8 percent in the previous month and an increase of 2.0 percent in October 2018.

    Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) inflation on YoY increased by 15.1 percent in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 14.7 percent a month earlier and an increase of 1.7 percent in October 2018.

    On MoM basis, it increased by 2.7 percent in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 1.9 percent a month earlier and an increase of 2.3 percent in October 2018.

    Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation on YoY basis increased by 13.2 percent in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 15.9 percent a month earlier and an increase of 18.6 percent in October 2018.

    WPI inflation on MoM basis increased by 2.0 percent in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.1 percent a month earlier and an increase of 4.4 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. October 2018.

    ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) has increased by 11.4 percent in the month of September 2019, said Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday.

    It said that CPI inflation general with base year 2015-2016, increased by 11.4 percent on year-on-year basis in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 10.5 percent in the previous month and 5.4 percent in September 2018.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.8 percent in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 1.6 percent in the previous month and 0.0 percent in September 2018.

    CPI inflation Urban, increased by 11.6 percent on year-on-year basis in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 10.6 percent in the previous month and 5.6 percent in September 2018.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.7 percent in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 1.5 percent in the previous month and a decrease of 0.1 percent in September 2018.

    CPI inflation Rural, increased by 11.1 percent on year-on-year basis in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 10.3 percent in the previous month and 5.1 percent in September 2018.

    On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.8 percent in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 1.9 percent in the previous month and 0.0 percent in September 2018.

    Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) inflation on YoY increased by 14.7 percent in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 12.1 percent a month earlier and an increase of 0.4 percent in September 2018.

    On MoM basis, it increased by 1.9 percent in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 2.7 percent a month earlier and a decrease of 0.4 percent in September 2018.

    Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation on YoY basis increased by 15.9 percent in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 14.1 percent a month earlier and an increase of 14.6 percent in September 2018.

    WPI inflation on MoM basis increased by 0.1 percent in September 2019 as compared to an increase of 1.2 percent a month earlier and a decrease of 1.5 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. September 2018.
