    FBR transfers 78 IRS officers in major reshuffle

    ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday announced major reshuffle in Inland Revenue Service (IRS) and transferred 78 officials of BS-17 to BS-20 with immediate effect and until further orders.

    The FBR announced transfers and postings of following IRS officers:

    01. Sahibzada Abdul Mateen (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue (Zone-IV) Large Taxpayers Unit-II, Karachi from the post of Commissioner, (IP/TFD/HRM) Large Taxpayers Unit, Karachi.

    02. Zahoor Ahmad Panwar (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue (IP/TFD) Corporate Regional Tax Office, Karachi from the post of Commissioner, (Zone-IV) Large Taxpayers Unit-II, Karachi.

    ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Monday assigned additional charge of Director General Anti-Benami Initiative to Dr. Bashirullah Khan, a BS-21 officer of Inland Revenue Service (IRS).

    The FBR notified posting and transfers of following officers of IRS:

    01. Dr. Bashirullah Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21) who is currently posted as Chief Commissioner-IR, Regional Tax Office, Rawalpindi has been assigned the additional charge of the post of Director General, Anti-Benami Initiative, Islamabad in addition to his own duties, relieving Asim Ahmed (IRS/BS-21) presently posted as DG, I&I-IR, Islamabad.

    02. Hassan Zulfiqar (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue Inland Revenue (Appeals-I), Islamabad from the post of Commissioner-IR, Benami Zone-I, Islamabad.

    FBR to retest shorthand, typing speed of officials; gives 60 days deadline

    ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has observed that lethargy of officials working as assistant private secretaries and steno typists is causing problems in speedy and efficient disposal of work.

    The FBR said that during a drive to check the efficiency of Assistant Private Secretaries (BS-16) and Steno typists (BS-14), working in Inland Revenue field formation it had been observed that shorthand and typing speed had declined far below the prescribed standard threshold.

    “This lethargy on part of the officials is causing problems in speedy and efficient disposal of official work,” the FBR said.

    An official memorandum sent to all the heads of IR offices, said that in terms of recruitment rules for the said posts following criteria was laid down for shorthand and typing:

    Assistant private secretary – minimum shorthand speed 100 words per minute (WPM) and minimum typing speed 50 WPM.

    Steno typists – minimum shorthand speed 80 WPM and minimum typing speed 40 WPM.

    Considering the present situation, the FBR has decided that all assistant private secretaries / steno typists Inland Revenue field formations will undergo the shorthand and typing speed test to be conducted by all the heads of Inland Revenue field formation after 60 days from issuance of this memo i.e. August 30, 2019.

    The FBR further said that the results of the test would be shared with the board which would be incorporated in the personal dossiers of the respective officials and would also have a bearing on the performance allowance.

    IRS cadre strength increases to 1,254

    ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is working with 1,254 officers of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) of BS-17 to BS-22, according to a notification issued on Wednesday.

    The FBR said that consequent upon the approval of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the creation of additional posts in Inland Revenue Service conveyed vide letter dated June 29, 2019, cadre strength of IRS under administrative control of FBR with effect from June 29, 2019 will be as under:

    BS-22: 05

    BS-21: 51

    BS-20: 177

    BS-19: 256

    BS-18: 383

    BS-17: 382

    The prime minister approved creation of 25 additional posts in IRS including BS-21 07, BS21 07, BS-19 01, BS-18 06 and BS-17 04.

    The FBR also sent a communication to Accountant General of Pakistan for arranging financial expenditures for such posts.

    FBR decides to promote data entry operators

    ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to promote Data Entry Operators (DEOs) BS-12 to Management Information System (MIS) Officers BS-16 in the upcoming meeting of departmental promotion committee (DPC).

    In this regard the FBR on Tuesday directed 1 to 150 DEOs in final seniority list to complete their PERs for the last five years up to June 30, 2019, which should be submitted to the FBR by July 31, 2019.

    Besides, following information/documents should also be furnished in respect to the concerned DEOs, the FBR said in an office order addressing to heads of departments of Inland Revenue.

    The FBR required following details from the heads of departments:

    Certificate to the effect that no disciplinary / criminal case is pending against the official and that he is not the beneficiary of NRO 2007.

    Details of disciplinary proceedings in progress/pending, if any.

    Details of penalties imposed upon the official, if any, during last five years.
