Tanveer Secures 7th Position in World Archery Para Championship

Tanveer Ahmed, Pakistan’s visually impaired archer, showcased exceptional skill and determination at the World Archery Para Championship 2023 in Pilsen, Czech Republic. Securing an impressive 7th position, Tanveer’s remarkable accomplishment reflects his dedication and hard work.

During the prestigious event, Tanveer started strong with a resounding victory against John D Hill from the USA, eventually advancing to the quarterfinals. Although he put up a tough fight, he was unable to overcome the top-ranked Steve Prowse from the UK.

Having been ranked World No. 7 in the mega event, Tanveer’s performance is a testament to his talent and commitment. Achieving a top-10 finish in such a high-profile competition is a significant milestone for any athlete.

Looking ahead, Tanveer aims to continue his impressive form in upcoming events, including the IBSA World Games 2023 and British Nationals next month. This 39-year-old archer has been a consistent medalist in both national and international competitions since taking up archery in 2017.

Last year, Tanveer made history by claiming Pakistan’s first-ever silver medal in the Championships held in Dubai. His success continued into 2022, where he earned five international medals, including the first-ever mix team gold medal in Andorra International Open for VI Archery, a silver medal in the 30-meter individual event, and a bronze medal in the 18-meter individual event of VI Archery.

Additionally, he secured a bronze medal in the World Ranking Event & European Cup and a silver medal in the World Archery Para Championships.

The World Archery Para Championship 2023 was a grand event, attracting more than 1250 competitors from 70 nations.
