Taylor Swift has once again stirred up speculation after confirming that her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl will contain exactly 12 songs—no more, no less.
While the singer insisted that the number made the record “perfect,” fans are convinced there is more hidden between the lines.
Swift, 35, has long been famous for dropping cryptic Easter Eggs in her announcements, and loyal Swifties are refusing to take her words at face value. Many believe her repeated emphasis on the absence of bonus tracks might itself be a subtle clue pointing toward something bigger.
Social media quickly lit up with fan theories, with screenshots of Apple Music’s tracklist for Swift’s 12th studio album circulating widely. The list includes an intriguing one-minute audio clip titled “And, baby, that’s show business for you.”
Although there is no official confirmation of what the track actually contains, fans are buzzing with possibilities. “I think the 13th track is her reading of the poem! And the poem title is gonna be And, baby, that’s show business for you,” one user speculated.
Another pointed out Swift’s history of misdirection, writing, “didn’t she say similar things during a tour and then surprise us with a guest?” Others predicted that instead of extra songs, the mystery might point to a documentary, a stage musical, or even a Vegas residency.
One fan jokingly added, “The Death of a Showgirl, produced by Jack and Aaron,” a nod to Swift’s longtime collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner.
