Pop superstar Taylor Swift delighted fans at the premiere of Toy Story 5 after bringing along an original VHS copy of the first Toy Story film and asking the movie’s stars to autograph it.
The memorable moment was revealed by Tom Hanks during the Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday. Hanks, who has voiced Woody since the franchise debuted in 1995, told USA Today that Swift approached him with the vintage collectible for his signature.
“I did not get a selfie,” Hanks joked, adding that he signed Swift’s original VHS copy of the animated classic.
The Oscar-winning actor also quipped that Swift should have brought a VHS player along so both could be preserved together.
“I told her she should have brought in the VHS machine so that we could have signed it as that could go into the Smithsonian Institute as well,” Hanks said.
Earlier in the evening, Swift was photographed carrying the decades-old VHS edition of the original Toy Story under her arm while attending the star-studded premiere. The singer later collected signatures from several cast members, including Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear in the beloved Pixar franchise.
The appearance generated significant buzz on social media, with videos of Swift seeking autographs quickly going viral among fans.
The event comes ahead of the release of Toy Story 5, scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 19, 2026. Adding to Swift’s connection with the film, her new song, I Knew It, I Knew You, is set to feature on the movie’s soundtrack.
The crossover between one of music’s biggest stars and one of animation’s most iconic franchises has further heightened anticipation for the latest chapter in the Toy Story series.
