Taylor Swift has been honored by London’s iconic Wembley Stadium with a custom guitar, recognizing her as the first artist to perform at the venue eight times during a single tour.
On Friday, August 23, Wembley Stadium shared the news via social media, stating, “In recognition of becoming the first solo artist to play Wembley Stadium eight times on a single tour, we gifted Taylor Swift her own personalized Wembley guitar.” The message concluded with a heartfelt tribute: “So long, Taylor. It was enchanting.”
The 34-year-old pop sensation was presented with a blue-and-black acoustic guitar, designed to match the exterior colors of Wembley Stadium. The guitar featured inscriptions that paid homage to two of her biggest hits: “So Long, Taylor” and “It’s Been a Wembley Love Story,” a nod to her chart-topping singles “Love Story” and “So Long, London.”
In addition to the inscriptions, the guitar was engraved with the dates of each of her record-breaking performances at the venue. A handwritten note was also tucked between the strings, expressing the stadium’s gratitude and admiration for the singer.
The note read, “Thank you for eight unforgettable nights under the [Wembley] arch. You are now, officially, the biggest-selling female artist to ever perform at Wembley Stadium, and we think that is something to celebrate.
We hope your very own Wembley Stadium guitar acts as a reminder of your record-breaking shows here in London. We would love you to come back soon.”
Swift’s eight performances at Wembley were part of her highly successful Eras Tour, which ran from June to August. The tour’s final Wembley show took place on Tuesday, August 20, marking a historic moment in the venue’s history.
Not only did Swift set a new record for the most sold-out stadium appearances during a single tour, but she also broke a 30-year record previously held by Michael Jackson. Jackson’s record had remained unchallenged since his death in 2009, making Swift’s achievement all the more remarkable.
This unique recognition from Wembley Stadium cements Taylor Swift’s legacy as one of the most successful and influential artists in music history.
