Taylor Swift may be one of the world’s most confident performers, but the pop icon has revealed she also battles insecurities—especially when it comes to dancing. In her newly released Eras Tour docuseries, the 35-year-old singer opened up about how years of public criticism over her choreography left her hesitant to fully embrace movement during performances.
Swift explained that she had long struggled with dance, admitting, “Everybody’s got their things they’re good at. It’s taken me a really long time to be even fine at choreography.” While she wanted to improve, she needed guidance that matched her artistic style.
After asking longtime friend Emma Stone for advice, Swift was introduced to Emmy-winning choreographer Mandy Moore, a perfect creative match. Swift said Moore teaches choreography from a lyrical approach—something that aligns closely with the singer’s storytelling style. Their chemistry was so strong that Swift later collaborated with Moore again for her Fate of Ophelia music video released this year.
Working with Moore and a strong team of dancers helped Swift build confidence. She acknowledged that the professionalism around her pushed her to perform at her best, saying, “It’s one of the elements where that kind of pressure is a privilege, because they’re not messin’ up, so it better not be me!”
The documentary highlights Swift’s journey from self-doubt to mastery as she learned, practiced, and perfected choreography that complemented her record-breaking Eras Tour performances.
