Taylor Swift has opened up about the real-life spark behind her latest music video, Opalite, from her October 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl.

The pop superstar, 36, released the video on Apple Music and Spotify on Friday, February 6, with a planned YouTube debut two days later. Fans are already buzzing about the video’s vibrant visuals and ‘90s-inspired theme.

In an Instagram post, Swift shared that the idea for Opalite originated during her October 3 appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where she appeared alongside Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Smith, and Lewis Capaldi.

“When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a lighthearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! H was joking,” Swift recalled. “But in that moment, I was instantly struck with an idea.”

A week later, Domhnall received a script Swift had written for the video, where he played the starring role. Swift also reached out to everyone who shared the Graham Norton sofa with her, ensuring the ensemble cast contributed to the unique narrative.

The video reflects Swift’s playful creativity, featuring cameos from familiar faces from her record-breaking Eras Tour, layered with witty metaphors, fashion choices, and nostalgic nods to the ‘90s.

“I had more fun than I ever imagined—made new friends, explored metaphors, and played with fashion,” Swift said. “It was an absolute thrill to bring this story and these characters to life.”

Fans can expect a visually striking music video that merges Swift’s storytelling with her signature pop sensibilities, further cementing her status as a music and cultural icon.
