Pop superstar earns another major songwriting honor ahead of her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Taylor Swift added another milestone to her songwriting career this week after being named Songwriter of the Year at the 2026 BMI Pop Awards.

The award recognized Swift’s songwriting contributions to her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, further cementing her status as one of the music industry’s most influential lyricists.

Among the songs highlighted during the ceremony were “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Florida!!!,” “Guilty as Sin?,” “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” “So Long, London,” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.”

The annual BMI Pop Awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 12, in Beverly Hills, California. Swift did not attend the event as she was reportedly in New York City celebrating the birthday of her longtime friend, Lena Dunham.

The latest recognition comes during a landmark year for Swift, who was recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, becoming the youngest woman in history to receive the honor.

Swift, a 14-time Grammy Award winner, is expected to be formally celebrated during the Songwriters Hall of Fame gala scheduled for June 11 in New York.

Over the course of her career, Swift has earned widespread acclaim for blending autobiographical storytelling with commercially successful pop and country music, producing multiple chart-topping albums and record-breaking global tours.

Her 2024 release “The Tortured Poets Department” debuted to strong commercial success and critical attention, with many critics praising its emotionally driven lyricism and introspective themes.
