London, August 5, 2025 – Former Arsenal and Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey was granted conditional bail on Tuesday after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London to face multiple serious charges.

The 32-year-old Ghana international has been accused in five separate cases of rape and one of sexual assault, with the alleged incidents occurring between 2021 and 2022 — a period when Partey was actively playing for Arsenal in the Premier League.

According to court documents, two of the rape charges involve one woman, three relate to another, while the sexual assault allegation involves a third woman. The brief hearing, which lasted around 15 minutes, saw the magistrate transfer the case to the Crown Court for further proceedings.

Partey, who strongly denies all charges, is expected to appear next at the Old Bailey on September 2, where the trial will continue. Currently a free agent following the expiration of his Arsenal contract at the end of June, Partey is reportedly close to signing a one-year deal with Spanish club Villarreal in La Liga.

The developments have drawn widespread attention, given Partey’s high-profile football career and the seriousness of the accusations. The legal process now moves into a critical phase with the upcoming court appearance.
