Islamabad, June 12, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a thundershower alert for the upper and central regions of the country, effective from June 13 to June 16, 2025.
This weather advisory highlights a significant change in atmospheric conditions, with severe heatwave patterns expected to weaken during this period.
According to the PMD, moist currents are entering the upper regions of Pakistan, while a westerly wave is forecast to approach by June 13. Under the influence of these systems, duststorms and thundershowers, occasionally accompanied by hailstorms, are expected in several areas.
From June 13 to 16, intermittent thundershowers are likely in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad. Similar weather activity is anticipated in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh. Additionally, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, Karak, D.I. Khan, Waziristan, Zhob, Barkhan, and Musakhel may also experience duststorms and thundershowers during the same timeframe.
Southern Punjab and upper Sindh are not exempt, with thundershower activity expected across all districts of these regions.
