Islamabad, August 16, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast indicating the likelihood of a thundershower in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
Weather experts at the Met Office suggest that while the flat areas of the country will experience predominantly hot and humid conditions, there is a potential for rain accompanied by winds and thunderstorms in specific locations across northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and nearby hilly terrains on August 17, 2023.
The current weather pattern, as explained by meteorological experts, involves weak moist winds originating from the Arabian Sea, reaching the upper parts of Pakistan. Additionally, a westerly wave is present in the upper regions, contributing to the atmospheric dynamics.
Over the past 24 hours, much of the country has endured hot and humid weather. However, there has been relief in the form of rainfall in various places: Gujranwala received 5mm, Chakwal received 2mm, and Narowal received 1mm of precipitation.
The highest recorded maximum temperatures today were observed in different cities, with Dalbandin reaching 42°C, and Turbat, Chillas, and D.I.Khan marked temperatures of 40°C.
