Thundershower Expected in Upper Punjab on September 19, 2023: PMD

Islamabad, September 18, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting thundershower activity in upper Punjab on September 19, 2023.

This announcement comes as a result of a westerly wave prevailing over the upper and western regions of Pakistan, along with the presence of a low-pressure area (LPA) located southeast of Rajasthan, India, which is expected to move southwestward.

According to the PMD, rain-wind/thundershower activity is anticipated in several regions, including Sindh, Northeast Balochistan, upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and Kashmir. Moreover, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Sindh during the forecast period.

In the past 24 hours, the weather conditions have seen rain-wind/thundershower activity in Lower Sindh, Northeast/South Punjab, Northeast Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather has prevailed in other parts of the country.

• Sindh: Thar Parker (Nagar Parker 132, Kaloi 50, Diplo 25, Islamkot 16, Chachro 07), Thatta 47, Mithi 44, Badin 41, Chhor 12.

• Punjab: Narowal 28, Toba Tek Singh 27, Gujranwala 09, Chakwal 06, Faisalabad 05, Attock 04, Lahore (City 04, Airport 02).

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Bacha Khan (Airport), Peshawar (A/P 23, City 13), Cherat 17, Bannu, Malamjabba 15, Dir (Upper) 05, Kalam 02, Mardan 01.

• Balochistan: Khuzdar 25.

• Kashmir: Rawalakot 03.

• Gilgit-Baltistan: Bagrote and Babusar 02.
