Thundershowers forecast for Balochistan districts on July 10

Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, July 9, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted fresh spells of thundershowers in various districts of Balochistan on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

The weather outlook indicates a mix of hot, humid conditions with likely rain and thunder activity in the province’s northeastern and central regions.

According to the PMD, while most areas of Balochistan are expected to remain hot and very humid, thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds are likely in isolated pockets, particularly in Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Zhob, and Khuzdar. These districts may experience heavy rainfall at some locations, which could cause localized disruptions.

The PMD issued a broader weather advisory highlighting potential hazards of heavy rainfall across the country, including Balochistan. Flash floods may occur in local streams and hill torrents in areas such as Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Sibi, Loralai, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Panjgur, and Turbat. The department cautioned residents of these Balochistan districts to remain alert, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying zones.

The synoptic situation reveals that strong monsoon currents are penetrating the upper and central parts of Pakistan, while a westerly wave is also influencing weather patterns in these regions. As a result, rain-wind/thundershowers are expected not only in Balochistan but also in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated areas may witness heavy falls, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides in hilly terrain.

The PMD has urged citizens, especially travelers and residents of vulnerable zones in Balochistan, to exercise caution during the expected thundershowers. There is also a heightened risk of road closures due to landslides in mountainous areas, especially in northern Pakistan.

In the past 24 hours, thundershowers were recorded in parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and Kashmir, with Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi receiving substantial rainfall. Meanwhile, Lasbela in Balochistan received light rain, offering a preview of the more intense thundershowers expected in the coming days.

Authorities continue to monitor the evolving weather system closely and advise the public to stay updated through official PMD bulletins.
