Islamabad, April 8, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting thundershowers across several districts of Punjab on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
While most parts of the province will continue to experience hot and dry weather during the day, intermittent rain and thundershowers are expected in the upper and central regions.
According to the PMD’s latest forecast, districts such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Talagang, Mianwali, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad may witness thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds. The popular hill stations of Murree and Galliyat are also expected to receive showers, providing some relief from the early summer heat. Isolated incidents of hailstorm are also likely during the forecast period.
The Punjab region is currently under the influence of continental air, which has kept weather conditions relatively dry in recent days. However, a westerly wave has entered the upper parts of the country and is likely to intensify later tonight, enhancing the chances of thundershowers and localized weather disturbances across Punjab.
The weather on Tuesday night is expected to remain mostly dry in southern Punjab, while northern and central districts, including Dera Ghazi Khan, may also receive thundershowers. Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather alerts, especially in areas prone to hail and wind-related disruptions.
The PMD has urged farmers, travelers, and residents in the forecasted regions to take necessary precautions during the thundershowers to avoid inconvenience or potential hazards. Local administrations across Punjab have been advised to stay alert and ensure necessary arrangements are in place in case of sudden weather changes.
This mixed weather pattern signals the ongoing seasonal transition in Punjab, where hot days are now being interspersed with short spells of rain and thundershowers, a trend likely to continue in the coming weeks.
