Islamabad, September 16, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory, forecasting thundershowers in several regions of the country for Saturday, September 16, 2023. Residents in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are urged to be prepared for potentially heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
According to the PMD’s daily weather report, rain accompanied by wind and thundershowers is expected to impact several areas, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, Islamabad, southeast Sindh, northeast and south Balochistan, as well as Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir. The forecast also warns of isolated heavy rainfall during the specified period.
The weather authority has attributed these anticipated weather changes to moderate monsoon currents originating from the Bay of Bengal, which are penetrating into the upper and central regions of Pakistan. Furthermore, a westerly wave is projected to enter the upper parts of the country on September 16, 2023.
In the past 24 hours, the prevailing weather conditions across most parts of Pakistan were characterized by hot and humid weather. However, some areas experienced much-needed relief as rain, wind, and thundershowers occurred in Kashmir, Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gupis.
