Thunderstorm Forecast for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 6

Islamabad, February 5, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting a thunderstorm at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

According to the PMD, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, but rain, wind-thunderstorm, and snowfall over mountains are anticipated at isolated locations in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northeast Balochistan.

For the weather forecast on Monday, February 5, 2024, the PMD stated that mainly cold and dry weather is expected across the country. However, isolated places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas may experience rain, wind-thunderstorm, and snowfall over mountains.

The PMD attributes these weather patterns to a westerly wave affecting the upper parts of the country, which is likely to persist for the next 24 hours. During the past 24 hours, cloudy weather prevailed over most parts of the country, with rain-thunderstorm and snowfall occurring at isolated places in Sindh, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan. Additionally, fog is expected at a few places in the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during the morning hours.

Recorded rainfall in various regions is as follows:

• Sindh: Karachi (Saadi Town 13, Nazimabad, Orangi 13, Gulshan-e-Hadeed 12, University Road, MOS 09, North Karachi, Surjani Town 07, Jinnah Terminal, Faisal Base, DHA Phase II, Kemari 06, Quaidabad, Malir Halt 05, Gulshan Maymar 03, Masroor Base 02), Hyderabad 01.

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kakul 10, Malam Jabba, Pattan 04, Balakot, Mirkhani 02, Saidu Sharif 01.

• Punjab: Mandi Bahauddin 08, Lahore (Airport 07, City 04), Sialkot (Airport 07, City 04), Gujranwala 06, Jhelum 05, Narowal 03, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura 02, Kasur 01.

• Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (City 07, Airport 05), Rawalakot 02, Garhiduptta 01.

• Gilgit-Baltistan: Astore 02.

• Snowfall (Inches): Malamjabba 02 and Astore 0.8.

The recorded lowest minimum temperatures (°C) include Kalam at -12, Leh at -10, Astore at -09, Skardu at -07, Gupis at -06, Malamjabba, Kalat at -05, and Rawalakot at -04.
