Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas have reportedly put their upcoming movie Deeper on hold following the end of their nine-month relationship, leaving fans disappointed who were eagerly waiting to see their on-screen chemistry for the first time.
According to reports, rehearsals for Deeper had already begun in London before the project was unexpectedly paused. The 63-year-old Mission: Impossible actor and the 37-year-old Ballerina star were set to co-lead the supernatural thriller, which follows an astronaut on a mysterious deep-sea exploration.
However, insiders claim that the film’s production is now stalled not only due to the couple’s breakup but also because of U.S. President Donald Trump’s new trade tariffs, which have impacted several Hollywood projects. Entertainment reporter Daniel Richtman confirmed that production has been “temporarily paused.”
A source close to the pair revealed to Us Weekly that the split was “Ana’s decision,” explaining that she felt things were “moving too fast” and decided to “put the brakes on.” The insider added that although the two share “undeniable chemistry,” they have chosen to part ways “for now,” leaving open the possibility of reconnecting in the future.
Cruise and de Armas first sparked romance rumors in February 2025, after being spotted dining together in London. The couple later made public appearances, including at David Beckham’s 50th birthday party, and reportedly enjoyed romantic getaways to Spain and Vermont before their recent split.
For now, the fate of Deeper remains uncertain, but fans are still hopeful the two stars may reunite—on screen or off—sometime soon.
