Tom Cruise is returning to the big screen in a brand-new dark comedy movie, directed by Academy Award-winner Alejandro González Iñárritu.

The project, which is still untitled, is already drawing attention because Iñárritu has promised it will “surprise the world” and show audiences something unexpected.

Speaking to IndieWire, the director explained that the film will give viewers “a new kind of experience.” He praised Cruise for his dedication, professionalism, and passion for filmmaking, describing the actor as one of the most committed stars he has ever worked with. “His manners, his preparation, his passion, his integrity—everything about the way he works is inspiring,” Iñárritu said.

The director added that Cruise’s four decades in Hollywood have been defined by relentless devotion to the art of storytelling. “Filmmaking has been his life for 40 years. I’ve never seen someone so devoted,” he shared, noting that their collaboration created mutual trust and respect.

Iñárritu also expressed excitement about the rest of the movie’s cast, calling the production both wild and hilarious. “It was challenging, but it was a blast. We laughed a lot and had a wild time,” he recalled.

The untitled movie starring Tom Cruise is set for release on October 2, 2026. With Iñárritu’s vision and Cruise’s star power, the film is already being seen as one of the most anticipated movie projects of the coming year.
