Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance on the set of NCIS: Origins on Wednesday, delighting the cast and crew with his visit. The Mission: Impossible star spent time on set, offering advice and showing support for the prequel series.
Co-showrunner David J. North shared details of Cruise’s visit on Instagram, posting a carousel of photos from the meetup. He wrote, “As we kick off a new season of Origins, it was awesome to have @tomcruise stop by yesterday to hang out and show so much support to our show and the entire @ncisverse.”
North also mentioned the inspiration behind the show’s bar, Daly’s: “@ginalucita and I took inspo from the bar in Top Gun when we dreamt up our bar, Daly’s. So we were stoked he approved lol. Thanks for all the advice and the love, Tom.”
CBS, the streaming network, also posted a photo on Instagram showing Cruise smiling arm-in-arm with stars Austin Stowell, Tyla Abercrumbie, Caleb Foote, and more, captioning it simply: “A VIP on set!”
NCIS: Origins, a prequel to the original series, was officially renewed for another season by CBS in February 2025. The show is set in 1991 and follows Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ early career in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, exploring both his professional and personal life.
