Hollywood action superstar Tom Cruise is gearing up to begin production on his next major project with Warner Bros., set to start filming in the UK next month.

The yet-untitled film, which has been shrouded in secrecy, will be directed by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, best known for his Oscar-winning films Birdman and The Revenant. Cruise, renowned for his iconic roles in Mission Impossible and Top Gun, is expected to take on a pivotal role in this mystery project.

According to Warner Bros., the upcoming film will feature a star-studded ensemble cast alongside Cruise. Notable actors joining the project include Breaking Bad star Jesse Plemons, Your Honor actor Michael Stuhlbarg, Anatomy of a Fall actress Sandra Hüller, and Emmy Award-winning actor John Goodman. In addition, rising talent Sophie Wilde and Oscar-winner Riz Ahmed are also set to be part of this highly anticipated production, as reported by Variety.

Despite the excitement surrounding the project, details about the film’s plot and title remain under wraps. Warner Bros. confirmed the project back in February, but its development faced delays due to Cruise’s demanding schedule. The Top Gun actor has been heavily engaged in filming Mission Impossible 8, which pushed the mystery film’s production timeline.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a frequent collaborator of Cruise, shed some light on the project during a June interview with Deadline, expressing his optimism about the film’s storyline. “I think we have a terrific story,” Bruckheimer said. “The challenge is coordinating schedules. Tom’s very busy. He’s in high demand, and he’s got multiple projects lined up. We just need to get the right screenplay, and hopefully, it resonates with him as much as it does with us.”

With Cruise leading the charge and the visionary Iñárritu at the helm, anticipation is mounting for this intriguing project. Known for pushing cinematic boundaries, Iñárritu’s involvement suggests the film will be both visually stunning and narratively complex, marking a departure from Cruise’s recent high-octane action roles.

As production begins next month, fans are eagerly awaiting more information about what promises to be one of the most highly anticipated films in Cruise’s illustrious career.
