Despite Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning being the concluding chapter of the franchise, legendary Hollywood star Tom Cruise has no plans of slowing down. During the film’s red carpet premiere at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City, Cruise reaffirmed his passion for cinema, declaring, “I will never stop doing action.”
The film, which had earlier premieres in Cannes and London, marks the eighth and reportedly final installment in the Mission: Impossible series. In this chapter, Cruise reprises his iconic role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt for one last globe-trotting, high-octane mission. “It’s the final! It’s not called ‘final’ for nothing,” Cruise told The Hollywood Reporter.
Although the word “final” looms large over the latest installment, the Top Gun: Maverick star remains optimistic about his career’s future. Drawing inspiration from veteran actor Harrison Ford, Cruise noted, “I actually said I’m going to make movies into my 80s; actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s.”
With his trademark enthusiasm and dedication to physically demanding roles, Cruise emphasized, “I will never stop. I will never stop doing action. I will never stop doing drama, comedy films. I’m excited.” His statement reflects his long-standing reputation as one of the most hands-on action stars in Hollywood, known for doing his own stunts.
In addition to his passion for action, Cruise also revealed a surprising item still on his acting bucket list—musicals. Speaking earlier this month at the British Film Institute (BFI) in London, the Rock of Ages actor said, “Definitely musicals,” when asked about the one genre he still hopes to explore.
Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning also stars Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Angela Bassett, among others. The film is scheduled for global release on May 23, and although this may be Ethan Hunt’s last mission, it’s clear that Tom Cruise is nowhere near finished.
