Tom Cruise, celebrated for his high-octane stunts, was spotted performing a jaw-dropping aerial feat while filming the latest Mission Impossible installment in Oxfordshire on Monday.
The actor, who is reprising his role as agent Ethan Hunt, showcased his trademark daring by hanging onto the underside of a yellow Stearman biplane in mid-flight.
Accompanying Cruise on set was Esai Morales, who plays the enigmatic terrorist Gabriel in the franchise. Morales appeared alongside Cruise in what seemed to be an intense high-altitude struggle.
While Morales was seated in the backseat of the plane, Cruise was later seen gripping the plane’s exterior as it executed an upside-down maneuver, adding to the scene’s intensity.
Cruise, who has been a licensed pilot since 1994 and owns several aircraft, was aided by a crew member dressed entirely in green. This attire indicates that the pilot will be digitally removed during post-production editing, allowing the scene to focus solely on the actors’ performances.
Recently, Cruise was also spotted at Longcross Studios, where he filmed action-packed scenes that promise to continue the franchise’s legacy of daring stunts and suspenseful sequences.
This sighting follows his earlier appearance in April near Downing Street in London, where dramatic scenes suggested new challenges for his character, Ethan Hunt. In these scenes, Cruise was captured kneeling in apparent surrender, highlighting the perilous missions faced by the Impossible Missions Force.
The filming of Mission Impossible 8 has spanned various locations across the UK, including Derbyshire, Surrey, and central London landmarks such as the Natural History Museum in Kensington and Westminster Bridge. These diverse locations suggest a plot filled with thrilling and geographically expansive action sequences.
As anticipation builds for the new installment, Cruise’s commitment to performing his stunts continues to impress fans and critics alike. His willingness to push the envelope ensures that the upcoming film will deliver the high-stakes action that has become synonymous with the Mission Impossible franchise.
