Tom Hanks says he will join Rita Wilson on tour whenever he is not working

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are planning to spend much of the summer together as Wilson travels across the United States for her “Sound of a Woman” concert tour.

Speaking to People magazine during the premiere of the Broadway show Celebrity Autobiography on Monday, Hanks praised his wife’s work and said he plans to join her whenever possible.

“I am proud. I am entertained. I am gasped and often I’m also left at home when she gets up and takes care of business,” Hanks said.

Wilson explained that the couple will see each other throughout the tour schedule, saying Hanks would join her between his work commitments.

“He comes in and out when I’m on tour, so we see each other then,” she said.

When asked about their summer travel plans together, Hanks jokingly responded, “Are we? Okay. I do what I’m told.”

“She’s on tour; when she’s on tour, I’m not working,” he added.

Hanks and Wilson first met in 1981 on the set of the television sitcom Bosom Buddies. The couple later reconnected, made their relationship public in 1986, and married in 1988.

Wilson has previously spoken publicly about the foundations of their long-lasting marriage, describing communication as one of the most important aspects of their relationship.

She said one of their key habits is spending time talking at the end of the day and making sure disagreements are resolved before sleeping.

“I heard that early on, and I thought, ‘That’s actually really good,’” Wilson said while discussing their rule of never going to bed angry.

The couple, widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting marriages, continue to attract public attention for their supportive relationship and shared appearances.
