British actor Tom Holland, best known for portraying Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), was once rumored to be among the top contenders to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. However, those hopes appear to have faded due to contractual restrictions with Marvel Studios.

According to reports, Holland’s Marvel contract prevents him from taking on any other “superhero” or franchise-heavy roles that could overshadow his upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The 29-year-old actor is currently filming the new installment, which is slated for release on July 31, 2026.

A source told The Sun’s Bizarre column, “Tom can’t play two superheroes, it just won’t happen.” This restriction effectively rules him out of donning the tuxedo as Agent 007—at least for now.

The Uncharted star has previously spoken about the James Bond rumors, calling the opportunity to play the British spy the “pinnacle” of his acting career. During a recent appearance on Gordon Ramsay’s YouTube show, Holland addressed the ongoing speculation with a smile, saying, “There’s speculation at the moment. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now. We’ll get there one day.”

When asked about the possibility of becoming 007, Holland replied, “Every young British actor dreams of it. It’s the pinnacle of our industry. I already feel like the luckiest guy alive.”
