Tom Holland says he is ‘on cloud nine’ ahead of The Odyssey release

Tom Holland said he feels “on cloud nine” ahead of the theatrical release of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, describing his experience working alongside an acclaimed cast and filmmaker as one of the highlights of his career.

Speaking to E! News at the New York premiere of the film, the 30-year-old actor reflected on starring alongside Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o and other Hollywood stars in Nolan’s latest epic.

“For a young actor to get the opportunity to be a part of something like this is so surreal,” Holland said.

The Spider-Man star also revealed that he is eager to watch the finished film.

“I cannot wait to see it. I’m honestly—I’m on cloud nine right now,” he said.

Holland reserved particular praise for director Christopher Nolan, applauding his distinctive filmmaking style.

“What Chris does is he paints an amazing picture,” Holland said. “He builds these wonderful worlds and you really just have to dive in. There’s no time for nerves.”

The actor added that Nolan’s fast-paced production style made the experience both demanding and rewarding.

“He shoots at a pace that is unmatched and to be a part of his company is just a pleasure,” Holland said. “You have to drink in every single moment and I loved every second of it.”

Holland plays Telemachus

In The Odyssey, Holland portrays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, who is played by Matt Damon.

The film is Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem, following Odysseus’ perilous journey home after the Trojan War.

The ensemble cast also includes Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal.

The Odyssey is scheduled to open in cinemas on July 17, concluding a global promotional campaign that included premieres in London, Paris, Rome and New York.
