Tom Holland, Zendaya shine at Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere

Zendaya’s black outfit fuels death theories, while Steve Lacy appears to reveal Sadie Sink’s mysterious character.

Tom Holland and Zendaya made a glamorous appearance at the first official premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Los Angeles on Monday, July 27, as excitement builds ahead of the film’s global release later this week.

The newlywed couple walked the red carpet alongside the film’s star-studded cast, including Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Jacob Batalon, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Mando, Jaden Smith, Trey Smith and director Destin Daniel Cretton.

Tom Holland looked sharp in a burgundy suit paired with a red shirt, while Zendaya turned heads in an elegant all-black gown by Ashi Studio.

Zendaya’s choice of outfit immediately sparked speculation among Marvel fans, with many suggesting it could be an example of “method dressing” – a trend where actors subtly hint at story elements through their fashion during promotional events.

Some fans believe her all-black look could foreshadow a major character death in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, although it remains unclear whether the outfit references her character MJ or another key figure in the film.

Adding to the growing intrigue surrounding the movie, singer Steve Lacy appeared to accidentally reveal the identity of Sadie Sink’s long-rumoured character during the premiere festivities.

When asked which character he was most excited to see, Lacy replied, “Jean, I like Jean. She’s the villain, but there’s a reason to her madness.”

Realising he may have revealed too much, the musician quickly attempted to backtrack, saying only that he liked the character without offering further details.

Marvel Studios has kept Sink’s role under wraps throughout the film’s marketing campaign, leading to widespread speculation that she could be portraying Jean Grey or another significant Marvel character.

Lacy’s comments have reignited fan theories online, although neither Marvel Studios nor the cast has confirmed the accuracy of his remarks.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker and continues the Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The highly anticipated superhero film is scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide on July 31, 2026, with fans eagerly awaiting answers to the movie’s biggest mysteries.
