The rapper says working on The Odyssey strengthened his interest in filmmaking, particularly directing, producing and sound design.

Travis Scott is looking to expand his career beyond music by pursuing directing and producing in film and television, with his recent experience on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey helping shape his ambitions behind the camera.

The rapper has appeared in several film projects over the years and said he would like to take on more acting roles. However, speaking to Variety, Scott explained that he feels he can make a greater creative impact through filmmaking roles behind the camera.

“I would love to act more,” Scott said, while praising actors who dedicate themselves to developing their craft. “I feel like (behind the camera is) where I can shine the most.”

Scott said his experience on The Odyssey gave him an opportunity to closely observe Nolan and the film’s cinematographer while learning more about the filmmaking process.

Rather than spending his time in a trailer between scenes, Scott said he wanted to remain on set and understand how the production worked.

“I was really wanting to learn, so I didn’t really want to be in the trailer anyway,” he said.

The rapper recalled watching the camera work and asking questions about how individual shots were constructed.

“I’m looking in the camera. I’m all under the hood,” Scott said, describing his approach to observing the production.

Scott said one of the most important lessons he took from working with Nolan was the importance of remaining committed to a creative idea throughout the filmmaking process.

“Always see the vision through. Never go short on the vision,” he said.

The experience builds on Scott’s previous work behind the camera. He has directed music videos and a film connected to his 2023 album, demonstrating an existing interest in visual storytelling.

Scott is also expected to develop new film and television projects through a partnership with Paramount Pictures. Details of those projects have not yet been announced.

As his music career continues, Scott’s growing interest in filmmaking could mark a new phase in his creative work, allowing him to explore directing, producing and sound design alongside his work as a performer.
