Disney has revealed Stitch’s love interest Angel during D23, giving fans their first glimpse of the pink alien ahead of the 2028 sequel.
Disney has unveiled the first look at Angel, Stitch’s love interest, in the upcoming live-action sequel Lilo & Stitch 2 during D23 in Anaheim, California.
The preview, presented on Friday, August 14, showed Angel, a pink alien with glowing antennae, as Disney expands the characters and mythology of the Lilo & Stitch franchise.
Also known as Experiment 624, Angel was first introduced in the 2003 animated series Lilo & Stitch: The Series. The character possesses a distinctive ability to make reformed experiments return to their former evil behaviour, giving her a unique connection to the wider franchise.
Maia Kealoha, who portrayed Lilo in Disney’s 2025 live-action adaptation, appeared on stage during the D23 presentation to introduce the upcoming sequel. Stitch also appeared on a screen for the audience.
“Wait, there’s two of them?” Kealoha joked during the presentation.
Lilo & Stitch 2 will be directed by Chris Sanders, who voiced Stitch and co-directed the original animated film alongside Dean DeBlois.
The sequel follows the commercial success of Disney’s 2025 live-action Lilo & Stitch, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp. The film earned more than $1 billion worldwide, becoming a major box-office success for the studio.
Disney announced the sequel one month after the release of the first live-action film. Camp had previously discussed the possibility of continuing the franchise while promoting the 2025 adaptation.
Camp said he would only return for another instalment if there was a compelling story rather than simply responding to market demand. He also expressed interest in an animated spin-off that could work as an episodic or limited series.
The introduction of Angel marks another step in Disney’s expansion of the live-action Lilo & Stitch universe, with the character expected to bring a new dynamic to Stitch’s story.
Lilo & Stitch 2 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 28, 2028.
