Makkah, Saudi Arabia — The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced on Friday that more than 13 million pilgrims visited the Two Holy Mosques during the Hijri month of Rabi’ Al-Akhir, highlighting a remarkable turnout for Umrah and Ziyarah.
At the Grand Mosque in Makkah, total visitors reached 4,197,055, including 22,786 pilgrims who performed prayers at Hijr Ismail (Al-Hateem). The number of Umrah pilgrims specifically recorded 2,887,516, reflecting the continued devotion of worshippers from around the world.
Meanwhile, the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah welcomed 1,790,885 visitors, with 355,532 pilgrims performing prayers in Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah. Additionally, 478,403 pilgrims paid their respects by offering greetings to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his two Companions, emphasizing the spiritual significance of their journey.
The authority highlighted that advanced technology, including sensor readers at the main entrances of both mosques, is being used to accurately monitor the flow of pilgrims and visitors. This system not only ensures operational efficiency but also helps manage crowd movements safely, in partnership with relevant authorities.
The high number of pilgrims this month underscores the enduring spiritual draw of the Two Holy Mosques, with visitors and pilgrims alike showing deep commitment to performing acts of worship. As the facilities continue to embrace modern management systems, the experience for pilgrims becomes safer and more organized, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to accommodate the ever-growing number of faithful visitors and pilgrims each year.
