ISLAMABAD, July 28, 2025 – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially granted visa-free entry to Pakistani diplomats and government officials holding diplomatic and official passports.

The announcement was made by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, on Sunday.

Dar confirmed that the UAE has activated the visa waiver across all its international airports, following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries last month. This agreement allows holders of diplomatic and official Pakistani passports to enter the UAE without the need for a visa, enhancing ease of travel for government representatives and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Dar shared details of his meeting held on June 24, 2025, in Abu Dhabi with the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. “We both signed an MoU for mutual visa exemptions that took effect 30 days after signing,” he wrote. He added that the waiver was now officially active as of July 25 at all UAE airports.

In return, reciprocal visa-free entry has also been granted to UAE officials arriving in Pakistan, marking a new chapter of trust and collaboration between the two nations.

The Pakistan-UAE relationship was further reinforced during the 12th session of the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) in Abu Dhabi, where both sides signed multiple MoUs, including agreements on mutual visa exemption, promotion of investment through a joint task force, and cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital economy.

Both governments have also agreed to hold the 13th JMC session in Pakistan, indicating a commitment to deepening ties through continued dialogue and strategic cooperation.
