Karachi, August 28, 2025 – United Bank Limited (UBL) has issued an important advisory for former Silkbank account holders, outlining key updates regarding their banking services following the merger of Silkbank with UBL.
The amalgamation will become fully effective on September 1, 2025, integrating all former Silkbank accounts into UBL’s extensive banking network.
According to the notice, account numbers will remain unchanged, allowing customers to continue their transactions without disruption. However, a new IBAN will be provided by UBL, with details included in the official welcome letter.
Regarding payment instruments, existing Silkbank debit cards will become inactive after September 1, and customers are advised to collect their new UBL debit cards from their respective branches. Cheque books have already been prepared and are ready for collection, ensuring seamless transition for account holders.
Credit card services will remain active under the existing terms, while customers may also apply for UBL-branded credit cards for additional benefits. Digital banking channels, including SilkMobile and Silk Digital NetBanking, will be discontinued, and users are encouraged to register with the UBL Digital App for uninterrupted mobile and online banking services.
UBL assured all customers that banking operations will continue smoothly and emphasized that this merger is designed to enhance customer experience through broader service access, improved technology platforms, and expanded branch coverage.
