Islamabad – Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), operating under the brand name Ufone, along with its digital telecom brand onic, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), has successfully acquired 5G spectrum in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)’s 5G auction held on Tuesday.
The acquisition marks a major milestone in Pakistan’s digital transformation, enabling faster connectivity, ultra-low latency services, and innovative digital experiences for consumers, businesses, and industries nationwide. Following its planned merger with Telenor Pakistan, the spectrum will be utilized by the combined entity, MergeCo, to serve over 70 million customers and deliver one of the country’s most powerful digital platforms.
5G technology offers far more than faster mobile speeds. For consumers, it promises ultra-high-definition streaming, immersive cloud gaming, virtual and augmented reality experiences, and quicker access to digital services. Businesses will benefit from smart factories, connected logistics, AI-driven analytics, and highly reliable cloud connectivity supporting mission-critical operations.
In critical sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and public services, 5G can drive innovations including remote diagnostics, virtual classrooms, smart farming, intelligent traffic systems, and next-generation financial services.

A phased rollout of 5G services is planned, beginning in major urban centers and gradually expanding nationwide. Investments will focus on network modernization, site densification, and digital infrastructure development to ensure high-performance and superior customer experience.
