Islamabad, January 24, 2025 – Ufone has secured the top position in network coverage based on the Quality of Service (QoS) survey conducted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
This achievement underscores Ufone’s commitment to delivering superior connectivity and reliable services to its users.
In the same QoS survey, Zong4G claimed the second spot, followed by Jazz in third place and Telenor in fourth. The PTA conducted this independent survey to evaluate the performance of Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) in terms of network coverage, voice quality, and data speeds. The assessment covered 17 cities across Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the fourth quarter of 2024.
The PTA’s survey methodology was rigorous and comprehensive, involving a carefully planned route selection that included main roads, service roads, and residential areas. Over a span of 64 days, approximately 2,270 kilometers were covered per operator, ensuring diverse geographical and demographic representation. Advanced automated QoS monitoring tools were deployed to conduct around 330,000 tests for mobile broadband performance and 46,000 tests for voice and SMS services.
The evaluation followed stringent Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) outlined in Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) licenses and PTA’s QoS Regulations 2021. Mobile devices were set to auto-detect technology, enabling a fair and accurate analysis of services like voice calls, SMS, and data sessions. CMOs employing advanced technologies such as LTE Carrier Aggregation and Voice over LTE demonstrated significantly improved results, contributing to better rankings.
While Ufone emerged as the leader in mobile network coverage, the PTA identified some areas where voice KPIs fell short of the required thresholds. In response, the PTA has instructed operators to implement corrective measures to enhance service standards. This proactive approach ensures continuous improvement in the quality of telecom services available to consumers.
The detailed results of the QoS survey are available on the PTA’s official website at PTA QoS Survey. This initiative reflects the PTA’s dedication to fostering healthy competition among operators, improving service quality, and ensuring consumer satisfaction. By setting high benchmarks, the PTA plays a vital role in elevating the telecommunications landscape in Pakistan.
