August 16, 2025 – Unilever, the London-based consumer goods giant, has officially inaugurated its all-category food production base in south China’s Guangdong Province, marking a significant step in the company’s global supply chain expansion.
The facility represents a milestone in advancing smart manufacturing, automation, and integrated logistics in one of the world’s largest consumer markets.
According to company officials, the new site will boost Unilever’s operational strength in southern China, enabling faster delivery and stronger resilience in its supply chain. Alongside the plant, a state-of-the-art logistics park has also been launched. This hub is expected to play a vital role in cross-regional distribution of Unilever’s food business, featuring a warehouse with nearly 70 percent higher storage density compared with conventional facilities and a 60 percent increase in receiving and dispatching capacity.
Joyce Zhou, general manager of Unilever Foods North Asia, said the launch reflects the company’s long-term confidence in the Chinese market. She emphasized that the new base will not only expand production capacity but also prioritize green and sustainable practices, ensuring both environmental responsibility and economic growth.
With this latest investment, Unilever now operates eight major production bases and logistics centers across China, in addition to its regional headquarters and global research and development center in Shanghai. Industry analysts view this move as part of the company’s broader strategy to capture rising demand in Asia while reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
